Orange County Pedestrian Accidents

Orange County experiences a staggering number of pedestrian accidents each year. According to more recent statistics, more than 3,000 pedestrians are involved in collisions on an annual basis. In 2021, a total of 375 pedestrians tragically lost their lives in Orange County pedestrian accidents, and many more were injured. It is estimated that the injury rate for all pedestrian crashes is around 80%, meaning that 8 out of every 10 crash victims will suffer some type of injury. To make matters worse, the injuries are usually serious in nature and will require complex and possibly long-term medical care.

The cause of each pedestrian accident will be carefully investigated by authorities. Some common causes of crashes involving pedestrians include distraction, failure to yield, impairment, and speeding. Both the driver and the pedestrian have a responsibility to act carefully under the circumstances and not to take actions that endanger others around them. Unfortunately, we see that many pedestrian accidents are caused by careless drivers.
