Fatal Accidents in California

According to the most recent data available, there are nearly 4,000 fatalities due to traffic accidents in California each year. Approximately 1,000 of these fatalities are suffered by pedestrians. A pedestrian is easily one of the most vulnerable victims on our roadway. Pedestrians have no protection from the force and impact of a collision. With a crash often occurring on a moment’s notice, there is also very little or no time to take evasive action to prevent the accident from happening. This all adds up to what is normally a very serious crash when a pedestrian is involved.

Every California pedestrian accident will be carefully investigated by a team of trained accident reconstructionists. These experts will survey the scene, take measurements, and speak with witnesses if possible. Following an investigation, police will typically make a determination as to how the accident took place. If the driver was at fault or partially at fault, they could then be held legally responsible for losses suffered by the pedestrian. A pedestrian accident case is often complicated, however, and should be handled with the assistance of an experienced attorney.
