Fatal Car Accidents in California

Last year, approximately 4,000 people lost their lives on California’s roadways. When a fatal accident occurs, the odds are that more than one victim will be killed in the crash. There is nothing more heartbreaking and devastating than the loss of a loved one due to a California car accident. If your family member was killed due to someone else’s negligence, the pain and grief are even greater.

Under California law, surviving family members may have legal rights following a fatal traffic accident. Our state’s wrongful death statute allows for the deceased victim’s next of kin to file a claim on their behalf. These cases seek to recover damages for items such as funeral and medical bills, lost wages, loss of companionship, and more. A California wrongful death lawsuit has important time limitations, so it is always best to speak with an attorney before embarking on this path.
