Santa Clarita, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Accident on Castaic Rd.
Santa Clarita, CA (March 3, 2023) – Police and first responders were at the scene of a deadly pedestrian crash near Santa Clarita on Thursday, March 2nd. The accident took place around 9:00 p.m. on Castaic Road just north of Lake Hughes Road.
According to Josh Greengard with the California Highway Patrol, a pedestrian from Bakersfield was walking on the northbound shoulder of Castaic when they tried to cross the road. The pedestrian was hit by a driver traveling southbound on Castaic. The pedestrian was thrown into the roadway and came to rest in a northbound lane. Officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department provided medical treatment. The pedestrian, who was not identified, sustained critical injuries and died later at a local hospital.
The driver of the car sustained major injuries and was taken to Henry Mayo Hospital for treatment. There is no update on their condition at this time. There were no other vehicles or individuals involved in the collision. Neither drugs nor alcohol were believed to have a role in the crash.
