California Bicycle Accidents
California is a popular place for bicyclists. With a temperate climate and inviting topography, many residents and tourists are out and about on their bicycles on a daily basis. However, riding a bicycle comes with many known risks. Last year, nearly 150 riders were killed in California bicycle accidents, and thousands more sustained injuries of varying degrees of severity. A bicycle crash takes place very suddenly and unexpectedly. Unfortunately, bicycle collisions usually result in severe injuries due to the fact that the rider is completely unprotected from the impact of the accident.
Every bicycle crash will be closely investigated by police. However, this does not mean that a victim will receive immediate vindication. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), it is estimated that 3 out of 4 drivers involved in bicycle crashes will not receive a citation for their role in the collision. Therefore, it is usually up to the victim or their family member to pursue a legal claim for compensation. In order to obtain justice, it is necessary to speak with an experienced California bicycle accident attorney as soon as possible.
