San Juan Capistrano, CA – One Killed in Crash with Truck on I-5 Fwy.

San Juan Capistrano, CA (May 2, 2023) – Police and rescue crews responded to the scene of a fatal crash in San Juan Capistrano on Tuesday morning, May 2nd. The accident happened just after 5:00 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the Interstate 5 Freeway.

According to officials with the California Highway Patrol, a woman was driving a black Jeep Cherokee when her vehicle collided with a stake bed truck that was traveling in the same direction. It is unclear exactly how the crash took place at this time. The woman sustained critical injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured in the accident.

Several lanes of the road were blocked following the collision as police investigated the scene. Motorists were advised to find an alternate route of travel if possible.

An investigation is ongoing by the California Highway Patrol. No further information is available.
