Injury Accidents in Los Angeles
According to statistics, there were nearly 41,000 car accidents in Los Angeles in 2021. As a result of these crashes, nearly 4,500 people were either seriously hurt or killed. This means that about 11% of all Los Angeles car accidents cause victims to suffer at least major injuries. Even injuries that are not classified as serious, however, can still pose problems for individuals. The injuries from a car accident may even be difficult to detect at first. Over the course of days or weeks, the severity of the injuries may reveal itself. Many crash victims reported feeling fine immediately after an accident only to later develop pain and discomfort that leads to reports of nagging injuries.
Immediately after a crash, it is important to seek medical treatment. Seeing your doctor at the soonest possible time can ensure that your injuries are appropriately treated and that you have the best chance of making a full recovery. If you delay, then the injuries can worsen, making it more difficult to receive effective treatment. Waiting too long to seek treatment can also result in higher medical costs if it takes you longer to recover from your injuries.
After you have seen a doctor, your next step is to speak with a Los Angeles car accident attorney. An attorney can properly advise you regarding your legal rights so that you do not do something that might jeopardize your case. Many accident victims make the mistake of speaking with an insurance adjuster following the accident. They may give a recorded statement that hurts their legal position. It is always best to have counsel who can speak with the insurance company in such a way that does not damage the value of your claim.
