Los Angeles, CA – Two Killed, Three Hurt in Crash with Metro Blue Train on 24th St.

Los Angeles, CA (February 21, 2023) – Police were at the scene of a deadly accident involving a car and a train in Los Angeles on Monday, February 20th. The crash happened in the 1600 block of East 24th Street.

According to a report from the scene, a car and a Metro Blue Line train collided with each other in the Central-Alameda neighborhood. A total of five occupants were in the car at the time of the collision. Two occupants, both males, were trapped inside the vehicle. They were extricated by fire crews but ultimately succumbed to their injuries. Three other victims were transported to hospitals where they were listed in fair or moderate condition. None of the victims were identified. There were 125 passengers on board the train at the time of the accident. They were all evacuated, and no additional injuries were reported.

Police believe that the accident happened when the car made a left turn in front of the ongoing train. At this time, officials are investigating whether the train’s crossing signals were activated when the crash happened. An investigation is ongoing. There is no further information available.
