Motorcycle Crash in Signal Hill
Riding a motorcycle is a popular hobby for many Californians. It should come as no surprise that California has the highest number of registered motorcycles of any state in the country. However, motorcycle riding does not come without serious risks. Accidents can happen suddenly and unexpectedly and can place victims in a very unfavorable position. It is estimated that more than 80% of motorcycle crashes in California will lead to either death or serious injuries. When compared with the death and injury rate of other types of accidents, this number is quite high. A car accident has less than a 40% rate of injury by comparison.
What makes motorcycles so dangerous? First, they are not designed to withstand the force and impact of a collision. The bike itself does not provide protection for the rider. Additionally, the rider themselves is not protected and is often directly impacted by an accident. Finally, many motorcycle accidents take place at higher speeds and can happen very suddenly. Riders may have little opportunity to take evasive maneuvers or otherwise avoid the crash. Following a California motorcycle accident, it is important to get in touch with an attorney who can help.
