East Hollywood, CA – Three Hurt in Crash with Wrong-Way Driver on 101 Fwy.

East Hollywood, CA (May 8, 2023) – Authorities in East Hollywood were called to the scene of a deadly wrong-way crash on Monday, May 8th. The crash happened around 4:00 a.m. on the 101 Freeway near Santa Monica Boulevard.

According to a report from the California Highway Patrol, a red Prius was traveling the wrong way down Highway 101 at a high rate of speed. The Prius sideswiped a sedan and then crashed into a pickup truck. Both the Prius and the truck erupted into flames following the collision. Paramedics rushed to the scene and rescued one person who was trapped in the wreckage.

The wrong-way driver was killed in the crash, and their identity has not been released at this time. Three other motorists suffered injuries, and at least one of the victims was taken to a local hospital. There is no further update on their conditions at this time. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

All lanes of traffic were affected until around 9:00 a.m. There is no word why the driver was traveling the wrong way.
