Santa Monica, CA - One Dead, Nine Hurt in Car Accident on PCH

Santa Monica, CA (April 30, 2023) – A deadly car accident was reported on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica on Saturday, April 29th. The crash occurred just after 3:00 p.m. in the 1000 block of PCH, near the California Incline.

According to Santa Monica Police Department Lt. Erika Aklfui, a Kia with eight occupants was traveling northbound and attempted to make a left turn into Beach Lot Four. As the car turned, it was T-boned by a Toyota Camry traveling southbound. The Camry had two occupants at the time of the collision.

A total of 10 people were taken to local hospitals following the collision. A passenger in the backseat of the Kia sustained major injuries and died at the hospital. Nine other people were treated for injuries that were not deemed to be life-threatening. The identity of the victim is not available at this time. Police have not determined whether any charges will be filed.

The northbound lanes of the road were shut down for several hours while the accident was investigated. There is no further information available.
