California Pedestrian Accidents
A pedestrian crash in California often results in serious and life-altering consequences for victims. Between 2009 and 2018, approximately 7,500 pedestrians were killed in crashes on California’s roadways. This is an average of more than 800 lives lost each year. In addition to fatal accidents, there are thousands more victims who will be seriously hurt when they are struck by a vehicle. Many drivers who cause pedestrian accidents are unaware that a crash is about to occur until it is too late. Distraction, speeding, impairment, and generally reckless driving all play a part in many California pedestrian accidents. The cause of every crash must be carefully investigated by authorities in order to determine the cause.
Under California law, a crash victim may have certain legal rights. If the victim was killed in the accident, their surviving heirs can step in and file a claim on their behalf. California’s personal injury and wrongful death laws are complicated. These cases should only be handled by an experienced legal team. Obtaining compensation for your losses is important. The money that you receive can help to secure your future and to pay for unexpected expenses such as medical bills and lost wages. Before you speak with an insurance adjuster, you should contact a local attorney for assistance.
