Oceanside, CA – Bicyclist Hit, Killed in Crash with Car on El Camino Real

Oceanside, CA (March 15, 2023) – Officials in Oceanside were called to the scene of a fatal accident involving a bicycle on Tuesday, March 14th. The accident occurred around 5:20 p.m. on El Camino Real at the intersection with Mission Avenue.

According to a report from authorities, a man in his 50s was riding his bicycle when he was hit by a car. The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The driver of the car remained at the scene and spoke with authorities. There were no other injuries reported as a result of the accident. The identity of the driver was not released. Motorists were advised to avoid the scene and to find an alternate route of travel if possible.

Following an investigation, police charged the driver with DUI and vehicular manslaughter. He was taken to jail and booked on the charges. Police have not released any further information at this time.
