Fatal Car Accidents in California
A serious crash can occur within a matter of seconds. As driving is a fairly routine activity, it is easy to take our safety and security for granted. However, serious crashes involving innocent motorists occur on a daily basis in California. According to the Transportation Injury Mapping System, approximately 4,000 people lost their lives in crashes that took place on our state’s roadways in 2022. A substantial number of these accidents affected innocent motorists who were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is impossible to predict when a major crash will happen. Motorists should always take basic precautions, including defensive driving and following all traffic laws, in order to reduce their risk of being involved in a crash.
Despite the measures that can be taken, some accidents are simply unavoidable. Head-on collisions and other types of accidents are often beyond the control of the involved victims. Careless and reckless drivers are very prevalent on California’s roadways, and their actions frequently affect innocent drivers and passengers. As the number of reported motorists continues to rise, it is expected that California will continue to experience high numbers of death and serious injuries due to traffic accidents.
While a major car accident is often a tragic event for those affected, there is some hope available. California law provides injured victims with a remedy to recover compensation for their injuries. If you tragically lost a family member, the law also allows the victim’s next of kin to file a suit against the other driver.
