Los Angeles, CA – Two Hurt when SUV Plunges off Overpass onto Figueroa St.
Los Angeles, CA (May 18, 2023) – Police and rescue officials in the Los Angeles area responded to the scene of a serious accident on Wednesday night, May 17th. The crash happened on the 101 Freeway above Figueroa Street just before 8:30 p.m.
According to a Los Angeles Police Department report, a Ford Expedition was traveling on the 101 Freeway when the car plunged off the overpass and fell 50 feet below onto Figueroa Street. The SUV then crashed into a wall, causing heavy damage to the front of the vehicle. A male and a female occupant of the Expedition were both critically injured and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
There is no word on what caused the accident to take place. The California Highway Patrol assisted the LAPD with an investigation.
