Fatal Car Accidents in California

Deadly crashes in California occur on a daily basis. Last year, approximately 4,000 motorists lost their lives in car accidents that took place on our state’s roadways. Most of these accidents were caused by driver negligence, such as inattention, speeding, distraction, or impairment. Unfortunately, fatal accidents often affect innocent motorists. These crash victims were simply in the wrong place at the wrong times when the crash took place. The result is a devastating collision that leaves a family in shock and grief due to a sudden and unexpected loss.

The days and weeks following a fatal crash are extremely difficult. As a family, you are forced to suddenly move forward without the love and companionship of your relative. While no amount of money can replace your loss, you may have legal remedies against the driver who caused the crash. California law allows the victim’s next of kin to seek compensation through a wrongful death claim. These claims are filed by the executor or administrator of the estate and must be filed within two years following the date of the collision.
