Fatal Car Accidents in California
California has nearly 40 million residents. It should therefore be expected that many car accidents will be reported in our state on a daily and annual basis. According to statistics, approximately 4,000 people will lose their lives in California car accidents every year. Many of these major car accidents occur on highways and in other areas where there is a considerable amount of traffic. At least one driver is normally legally responsible for a collision, and police must carefully investigate the crash in order to determine who should be held responsible.
If you or a loved one have been affected by a major car accident in California, it is important to know your legal rights. Many car accident cases come down to who was at fault for the collision. Many negligent drivers will contest the issue of their fault, in some cases making it difficult to decide exactly how the crash took place. They may try to blame the other driver in order to take the focus off of their own negligence. A close and careful investigation must always be conducted in order to decide how the accident took place. This is normally done by police at the scene, but in some cases, it is necessary to hire an experienced attorney and an expert reconstructionist to assist with your case.
