Bicycle Accident in Los Angeles
Nearly 300 people lose their lives every year in traffic crashes that occur in Los Angeles. Most crash victims are occupants of vehicles, such as cars and motorcycles. However, deadly accidents involving bicyclists and pedestrians are also reported. In 2021, 17 bicyclists were killed in Los Angeles while more than 1,700 injuries also took place. These numbers represented a sharp increase of more than 20 percent over the same statistics for 2020.
It should be apparent that bicyclists face many risks on our local roadways. A bicycle offers no protection from the force and impact of a collision. Bicyclists are often involved in accidents that are not their fault. Drivers who fail to yield to bicyclists or fail to see them at all are common causes of serious and catastrophic collisions.
