Lynwood, CA – UPDATE: Flavio Balderas and Micaela Balderas Identified in Deadly Crash

Lynwood, CA (February 6, 2023) – The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims of a deadly crash that took place in Lynwood on Sunday, February 5th. The accident was first reported around 2:00 a.m. on State Street at the intersection with Tweedy Boulevard.

According to investigators, police were investigating and attempting to apprehend a vehicle when the driver sped away. As the vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed, it collided with multiple cars at the intersection. The driver and a passenger in the second car died at the crash scene. Police later identified the deceased victims as 60-year-old Flavio Balderas and his wife, Micaela Baldreas. The couple was from Compton.

Two other victims were also rushed to a local hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead. That victim was later identified as James Griffin of Los Angeles. The condition of the other injured person was not revealed. Police are still investigating the crash at this time. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
