Hit-and-Run Crash in Los Angeles
In California, drivers are required to remain at the scene of a car accident, especially if that accident has resulted in injuries to one or more of the individuals involved. It is a serious crime to leave a crash scene before the police arrive. However, this does not mean that all drivers act responsibly and follow the law. On the contrary, about 20 percent of all California car accidents are classified as hit-and-run collisions. These accidents are typically among the most catastrophic and damaging crashes that we see on our roadways. A hit-and-run driver typically chooses to flee the accident scene to avoid taking responsibility for a crash that they caused.
Hit-and-run accident cases can be complicated and involve many complex legal issues. These cases are normally too difficult to handle without the assistance of an experienced attorney. After a hit-and-run accident, it is vital to get the help that you need so that you can be fully compensated for your injuries. In many cases, the other driver does not have car insurance. This might potentially lead to you being responsible for your own financial losses. However, many drivers also carry uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to help cover this scenario. The rules and laws surrounding insurance coverage can be confusing and will require the help of counsel in order to successfully handle your case.
