Fatal Car Accidents in California
California can be a deadly state for motorists. With more than 4,000 fatalities reported each year on our local roadways, no one is ever truly safe from the likelihood of being involved in a crash. When an accident occurs, it must be carefully investigated by police in order to determine the cause and the responsible party. In many instances, the crash was caused by a negligent driver. This normally means that the accident was also preventable through the use of ordinary caution.
Following a serious or fatal collision, victims may have questions about their legal rights. Under California law, family members may file a wrongful death claim if their loved one was killed in an accident that was not their fault. A wrongful death lawsuit must be filed within two years of the collision and should only be handled by a skilled and experienced California wrongful death lawyer.
