Chino Hills, CA – Four Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on 71 Fwy.
Chino Hills, CA (March 19, 2023) – Police in Chino Hills were dispatched to the scene of a deadly wrong-way crash on Sunday morning, March 19th. The crash occurred around 3:00 a.m. on the 71 Freeway near Chino Hills Parkway.
The California Highway Patrol, along with fire and rescue officials, responded to the scene just after the accident was reported. When officials got to the scene, they found at least two cars had been involved in a major crash. One of the vehicles was completely engulfed in flames. Following their investigation, officials were able to determine that two vehicles collided head-on in a wrong-way collision. Medical officials provided life-saving treatment, however, a total of four people ultimately succumbed to their injuries. There is no information on the identities of the victims at this time. The cause of the crash has not been determined and remains under investigation at this time.
The California Highway Patrol shut down a long stretch of the freeway for several hours while they investigated the accident. During this time, motorists were advised to avoid the scene and to find an alternate route of travel.
