Injury Accidents in California
Injury crashes in California take place hundreds of times per day. According to statistics, there are more than 400,000 reported crashes in our state every year. These accidents take place in all areas, including busy freeways, city streets, and quiet neighborhoods. The common denominator in most accidents is the presence of a negligent driver. These drivers are usually violating traffic laws in some way when the crash happens. Their violations then directly lead to an accident. When the accident results in injuries, the negligent driver can be held legally responsible for their actions.
If you have been injured in a California car accident, there are a couple of things that you need to do. First, you should seek medical treatment. Some people travel directly from the scene to obtain treatment, while others may wait hours, days, or even weeks before they see a doctor. Car accident injuries are not always apparent and may take some time to manifest themselves. Even if you do not think you were injured, it is always best to see a doctor to get checked out after a crash. Car accidents take place with a great amount of force and can cause injuries that may seem minor at first only to get worse later. The sooner you begin medical treatment, the more likely you are to have a full recovery.
Second, you should speak with an attorney as soon as possible. Many accident victims may think they can handle their own cases. They may also not be aware of their legal rights. This can lead to a situation where the victim bears the financial responsibility for a crash that they did not cause. If you were affected by someone else’s negligence, you should protect your legal rights to the fullest extent.
