Fatal Car Accidents in California

The loss of a loved one in a California car accident is one of the most devastating things for a family to endure. Following a fatal crash, investigators will conduct a careful investigation into the crash in order to determine the cause of the accident and which driver should be held responsible. Sadly, our state experiences about 4,000 fatalities each year due to traffic collisions, and most of these deaths could have been avoided through ordinary care and caution.

There are a number of reasons why serious and fatal crashes happen. Most of them are caused by speeding, impairment, distraction, and more. If your family member was killed in an accident that was caused by a negligent driver, you could be entitled to receive compensation. California’s wrongful death laws provide family members with the option of filing a legal claim in cases of a fatal accident. The law is complicated, however, and must be carefully followed in order to preserve your rights and properly file your claim.
