Pedestrian Accidents in Los Angeles

Several variables may contribute to pedestrian accidents. 73{1370d1a44a2a36111fd8aac2ccbc5aad49bce4f615ec80e8124ffd285aa21fc2} of pedestrian accidents occur in metropolitan settings, and 69{1370d1a44a2a36111fd8aac2ccbc5aad49bce4f615ec80e8124ffd285aa21fc2} do not occur at crossings, according to NHTSA statistics. What’s more, 76 of the 227 road fatalities in Los Angeles that year were pedestrians. In addition, 73{1370d1a44a2a36111fd8aac2ccbc5aad49bce4f615ec80e8124ffd285aa21fc2} of incidents happened at night when visibility was poor. The greatest number of pedestrian accidents happened between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., while the second greatest number occurred between 9 p.m. and midnight.

Unfortunately, the age of pedestrians also plays a role. Children and the elderly are more likely than other age groups to be involved in pedestrian accidents. In 2013, 21 percent of children under 14 killed in automobile accidents were pedestrians. Five percent of pedestrian fatalities and fifteen percent of pedestrian injuries included children. Meanwhile, senior pedestrians comprised 19{1370d1a44a2a36111fd8aac2ccbc5aad49bce4f615ec80e8124ffd285aa21fc2} of pedestrian fatalities and 10{1370d1a44a2a36111fd8aac2ccbc5aad49bce4f615ec80e8124ffd285aa21fc2} of pedestrian injuries.
