Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is no stranger to pedestrians. As the second most-populated city in the country, it is common to see many pedestrians out and about on a daily basis. These pedestrians are seen on city streets, in neighborhoods, and even in busy and congested areas such as highways and interstates. Like all other individuals on the road, pedestrians have legal rights. Drivers and other motorists owe an obligation to a pedestrian not to place them in a dangerous or risky situation. Unfortunately, negligent drivers are quite common in the Los Angeles area, and accidents often occur.
Pedestrians are among the most vulnerable and exposed crash victims. According to statistics, more than 80% of Los Angeles pedestrian crashes will result in injuries. A substantial number of these crashes will also end in serious injuries and even death. The cause of each accident will be closely investigated by police. A pedestrian crash can present complicated fact scenarios, and it might even be unclear exactly how the accident took place. Authorities will attempt to make a determination at the scene by evaluating the area and speaking to any witnesses. In cases where the exact cause is unknown, an expert witness may need to be hired.
