Los Angeles, CA - Two-Vehicle Wreck, Injuries on SR 22 at Bristol St

Los Angeles, CA (November 24, 2022) – Initial reports from the Los Angeles Police Department and the California Highway Patrol indicate that a two-vehicle accident occurred on California State Route 22 early on Thursday, November 24.

According to early on-scene investigations, the two-vehicle incident happened on the eastbound side of the road at Bristol Street, forcing traffic to back up to City Drive.

After the 6:45 a.m. collision, it seems that at least two persons were transferred to a local hospital by EMTs. Even though the cause of the crash is unclear, the LAPD and CHP collected evidence at the scene over the next several hours.

The police are searching for witnesses and anybody with information on the collision. An active inquiry into the cause of the wreck is underway.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their loved ones.

Car Accident Data in Los Angeles

Several variables contribute to automobile collisions in the city, and some routes have the highest incidence of fatalities and injuries. Municipal authorities created a strategy focusing on around 500 miles of streets after collecting and analyzing data to identify these hazard zones.

The increased number of automobiles on the roads of Los Angeles contributes to the rise in traffic accidents. The Transportation Department notes that vehicle sales and registrations in Southern California continue to increase, in part owing to the region’s improved economy and low gas costs. Moreover, technologies such as satellite radios, mobile devices, and navigation systems are generating an increase in distracted driving among motorists. Despite legislation limiting mobile phone usage for talking and texting, distracted driving continues to be the state’s biggest cause of auto accidents.

Speeding is a major factor in a large number of traffic accidents. At issue is whether a state statute prohibiting the use of radar systems to detect speeding vehicles prior to the completion of traffic studies indicating speeding trends impedes the LAPD’s enforcement efforts. The annual amount of speeding fines decreased from 100,000 in 2010 to about 17,000 in 2015.
