Los Angeles, CA - I-405 Site of Injury Auto Wreck at Rinaldi St

Los Angeles, CA (November 23, 2022) – According to initial reports from the Los Angeles Police Department and the California Highway Patrol, a two-vehicle collision happened on the San Diego Freeway on the evening of November 23.

The two-vehicle collision reportedly occurred on northbound Interstate 405 near Rinaldi Street, causing traffic to back up to State Route 118.

Following the 11:00 p.m. crash, EMTs apparently transported at least two people to a local hospital. Though the reason for the collision remains unknown, the LAPD and CHP proceeded to collect evidence at the site for the following few hours.

The police are seeking any witnesses or anybody with information about the crash. Currently, an investigation is ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families.

Causes of Car Accidents in Los Angeles

Several factors contribute to automotive accidents in the city, and some routes have the greatest fatality and injury rates. After collecting and analyzing data to identify these danger zones, municipal officials produced a plan concentrating on around 500 miles of roadways.

Los Angeles has more vehicles on the road, which adds to the increase in traffic accidents. The Transportation Department reports that automotive sales and registrations in Southern California continue to rise due in part to the stronger economy and low gas prices. Moreover, technology such as satellite radios, mobile gadgets, and navigation systems are causing drivers to become increasingly distracted in their automobiles. Despite laws prohibiting the use of cell phones for talking and texting, distracted driving remains the leading cause of car accidents in the state.

Another key component of many road accidents is speeding. At issue is whether a state ordinance barring the deployment of radar devices to identify speeding cars until traffic studies have been undertaken to show speeding trends hinders the LAPD’s enforcement activities. The number of yearly speeding tickets issued reduced from 100,000 in 2010 to about 17,000 in 2015.
