Long Beach, CA (January 30, 2023) – Police in Long Beach were at the scene of a deadly crash on Sunday, January 29th. The accident was first reported around 4:00 a.m. on Magnolia Avenue at the intersection with Hill Street.

According to police, a 2021 Hyundai Sonata was traveling at a high rate of speed when it slammed into a 1996 Toyota Camry. The accident happened when the Sonata driver lost control of his northbound vehicle and traveled into the southbound lanes, causing a head-on collision. After being struck, the Camry collided with several parked cars before coming to rest. Rescue crews pronounced the Camry driver dead at the scene. The driver of the Sonata sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. No other injuries were reported.

Police have not identified the victims at this time. There is no word on what caused the accident to occur.
