Long Beach, CA - Jacqueline Zamarrippa Killed in Willow St. Crash

Long Beach, CA (June 19, 2023) – A 21-year-old woman was killed in a car accident that took place on Friday night in Long Beach. The accident happened around 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of Willow Street and Caspian Avenue.

Police say that 20-year-old Saul Alfas, of Long Beach, was driving an SUV. Alfas was doing donuts in the intersection when his vehicle collided with a Chevrolet Silverado, causing the Silverado driver to lose control and slam into a tree. A passenger in the Silverado, 21-year-old Jacqueline Zamarripa, was ejected from the vehicle. Zamarripa suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The Silverado driver remained at the scene and spoke with authorities.

Alfas fled the area but later turned himself in. He is currently being held on bond for one count of felony vehicular manslaughter and one count of felony hit-and-run causing injury or death. Police believe that both speed and distraction played a role in the collision.

There is no further information available at this time.

We wish to offer our thoughts and condolences to the family of Jacqueline Zamarripa following this tragic fatal car accident in Long Beach.

Fatal Car Accidents in California

A fatal car accident is one of the most tragic and devastating events for a family member to endure. Sadly, nearly 4,000 deadly collisions were reported last year on California’s roadways. A substantial number of these collisions happened due to the negligence of one or more individuals. Fatal accidents tend to occur because at least one person is not following traffic laws at the time of the collision. Speeding, reckless driving, impairment, and distraction are among the leading causes of deadly crashes. Police will investigate each accident carefully in order to fully determine why it occurred.
