Injury Accidents in California
Car accidents in California take place very suddenly and unexpectedly, and often with little warning. According to statistics, there were more than 250,000 injuries reported in crashes in our state last year. Injuries sustained in California car accidents are often serious in nature and will require extensive and complex medical treatment. This can place a major burden on accident victims both physically and financially. In addition, the crash may cause mental and emotional trauma that can lead to tremendous suffering.
If the accident was not your fault, the injuries that you sustained may be compensable. Under California law, a crash victim has the legal right to initiate a lawsuit or a claim against a negligent driver. Generally, these claims are started by negotiating with the other driver’s insurance company to try and reach a settlement. If negotiations are not productive, then the case moves to a courtroom. There are many technical steps that must be taken during the process to ensure that your claim is handled properly and in a timely manner. Accident victims should always retain an experienced attorney to assist them in handling their cases.
